His sleeves are rolled up to meet at his elbows. While at school, Rui is seen wearing a light grey cardigan and a loosely-worn red-and-blue tie atop a pink-white blouse, the first button undone. It's mentioned that a friend of his made this outfit for him. These same rhombuses are found in white on the lower wing collar and the hems of his boots. The inside of his tailcoat is the same chartreuse color as the splatters on the outside, with a darker checkered-rhombus pattern. The ends of his rolled sleeves contain short, white lace poking out of the ends. He wears white pants with black knee-high boots and short, white gloves. His show outfit consists of a yellow ribbon, navy dress shirt, black vest, and a long pink-and-purple tailcoat with a neon chartreuse splatter pattern over the shoulders and the bottom edge of the coat. His voice is gentle, though it becomes strained when he is excited or curious. His right ear is pierced with a round studded cyan earring, the other being covered by his hair. Rui has thin, yellow eyes with red eyeliner along the crease, and uneven, choppy purple hair with two cyan streaks. He is given this opportunity when he joins Wonderlands x Showtime, and greatly appreciates how Tsukasa is willing to try his inventions and stage directions.
He can often be seen performing guerrilla shows on the street and/or in Phoenix Wonderland, which causes security to chase after him.ĭespite his independence, deep down, Rui has the desire to perform shows with other people again. Rui eventually decided that he would perform shows on his own, using robots as his actors instead of real people. However, due to his eccentric manner and risky ideas, his classmates grew to dislike doing shows with him and pushed him away. When Rui was young, he loved to create shows and tried to include his classmates in them. Rui is also very skilled in inventing machinery and creates animatronics for the shows. He manages the groups' stage performances and is both an actor and stage director for Wonderlands x Showtime. Rui was the one who recommended her to join the troupe. If you were to observe Kami Mendlik painting outdoors or in her studio, just as she begins to make her colors dance, you might see a smile flicker upon her face, a slight inhale of a calming breath, and, then, with quiet abandon see her Surrender to the Process.Rui and Nene are next-door neighbors, as well as childhood friends. She opens up about what is involved in creating, editing, and publishing a quality art book. However, the challenge of dyslexia did not prevent her from developing a deep love of books, and the writing of Color Relativity. In this episode, Kami reveals that she has struggled with dyslexia. This gorgeous new book is due to be released towards the end of the summer of 2022. Over ten years in the making, she has codified the lessons she has learned about color in a new book titled: Color Relativity–Creating the Illusion of Light With Paint. Over the years she has taught well over 1,000 students a process to help achieve the illusion of light and vibration in their paintings. However, she does not keep what she learns to herself.
Each seeming advance of knowledge leads to more questions and a never-ending quest to answer them in her paintings.
Kami thinks of herself as a lifelong student. She was entranced by the beauty of nature's rhythm and harmony and its myriad colors. The Minnesota farmland she grew up on was fertile not just for crops, but also for a young mind curious about the wonders of the land that was her home. Her life-long journey of curiosity and keen observation of the natural world began when she was a young child.
